Lane Kiffin is young. Kiffin is brash. According to rapper Lil Wayne, Lane Kiffin talks a LOT of trash. What does anyone expect? The head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers is young and his motives are easy to understand: get the school's logo in front of the kids, make noise, win games. It really is that simple.
Kiffin stepped on several toes with his attitudes and incorrect statements ... he has learned from his mis-steps.
There are certain members of the national news media that simply do not like Lane Kiffin. While these media members are not exactly fans of Phillip Fulmer, they do not like the in-your-face brashness that Kiffin brings to the table.

The LSU Tigers travel to face the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, MS this weekend. The visiting Tigers (SEC West #2) put their 8-2 mark on the line against a 7-3 (SEC West #3) Rebels squad that is improving weekly.
Yes, this weekend's match-up is a battle for the second place trophy in the SEC West. You did not realize that second place teams received trophies? That might be because they do not. Instead of a tacky, half-baked, thrown into the closet, pre-fabbed trophy, these two teams are playing for something much grander: bowl positioning.
The winner of this game will likely also win a spot in the Capital One Bowl

For the 2009 football season, the SEC will have bowl tie-ins with (up to) ten bowls, which will make for a lot of football betting. There are twelve SEC teams in the entire league. SECRivals takes a look at each bowl contract and predicts which SEC team will appear in the game. Like many things, take the predictions with a grain of salt ... as with anything before the season ends, these are only projections and will likely change between now and the first week of December.

As the SEC football season gears down towards the bowl season, there are still meaningful games on the docket. How much is your SEC team favored by this week? Do not forget, as the season grinds on, injuries tend to pile up ...

No way I would have gotten this question correct in August:
By mid-November there will be a potential for TEN bowl eligible teams, how many of these teams have a better than .500 conference winning percentage?
When we made our pre-season predictions (which are very close to what you are seeing on the field), there was no way to predict three teams in the Top Ten and no one else in the Top 25 ... that is simply unfathomable, but is where the SEC is at.
This week's Top 25 is beyond the jump ...

As the season winds down, the SEC has nine of its twelve teams bowl eligible. Two additional teams are not out of the hunt. For the SEC haters out there, I want to see another conference that has nine or ten bowl eligible teams. The bowl eligible teams are:

As the entire sports world is well aware of, three UT Vols football players were arrested late last night (early this morning) for attempted (un)armed robbery with a pellet gun. One fact that many people are over looking is the fact that the trio, along with a female, made their get-away in a 2010 Toyota Prius ... a car While we applaud their efforts to help save the environment, the car has to go. Truth be told, they should have been charged for using a Prius as a get-away vehicle.
Put yourself in their shoes. You are running around Knoxville's "Strip" at 1:45am ... you decide to jack someone up while your buddy is in a business owned by your University's number one booster ... don't you wish you could be in something a little flashier? Something that would draw a little less attention?

If you do not read Danny Jett daily, then you have no idea what you are missing. Danny Jett's site is a MUST read for University of Kentucky sports insight. We recently contacted DJ and performed an interview regarding what to expect from the Kentucky Wildcat's basketball program this season.
I was impressed with Danny before the interview, but must say that coming out of it, have a higher respect for him. Unlike other commentators that we have interviewed in the past, DJ dodged NO questions and gave us his take ... even to the questions regarding Coach Calipari's coaching history and World Wide Wes ... in this day and time, that is very rare. Trust me, we've asked others and could barely get a 'no comment' out of them no matter how the question was phrased.
