Jersey QB wants USC to offer
By Eric Guimaraes
QB Tanner McEvoy (6-6 205) of Oradell, NJ has several offers already but is looking for one from USC as well. "I hope they offer," said McEvoy. "They've been talking to me lately so I'm thinking they will." McEvoy has ties to the Palmetto State with an aunt in Columbia and a grandmother in Hilton Head. "A lot of my family on my mother's side went to school at South Carolina," he added. His offers are from North Carolina, Miami, Rutgers, Pitt, NC State, Maryland, Duke, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and Minnesota. McEvoy says he visited several schools in about a one week period. "I went to BC, Rutgers, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Duke, Pitt, West Virginia, and Maryland," he said. "None really stood out." During his Easter break, McEvoy will go visit Florida, Florida State, and Miami. This summer, he plans to attend the Nike Camp at Penn State and the Elite Eleven Camp at Alabama. McEvoy played running back and wide receiver last season and is moving to quarterback for the upcoming season. He has no favorites. "I am still wide open," said McEvoy.

Floyd gets USC offer
By Phil Kornblut
DE Desmond Floyd (6-5 230) of Union County was at USC Wednesday to watch the Gamecocks spring practice. And he left campus with an offer from the Gamecocks. "They were straight up with him," Union County coach David Lipsey said. "They told him to take his time and make sure before he makes a commitment. They want his parents to come down so they can get to know them. They told him don't do anything until he's sure about things. They showed us around the Dodie Center and the football facilities. He was impressed. He really liked it. He likes coach Lawing and coach Elliott. He felt real comfortable with them." Floyd also has offers from Kentucky, Duke, Maryland and West Virginia. Clemson has also been showing interest. He's been to Clemson a couple of times. He will go to Duke Saturday for the spring game, and he plans to return to USC for the spring game there.

Delaware lineman gets USC offer on visit
By Phil Kornblut
OL Trip Thurman (6-6 311) of Dover, DE made an unofficial visit to USC Thursday and was offered by the Gamecocks. "It was a great experience," Thurman said. "I wanted to come down to visit because I've never been to Columbia. I liked the campus. Coach Elliott is a fun guy. I enjoyed watching him coach the guys. Coach Mangus gave us a tour. I was pretty excited (with the offer). This is one of the schools I have interest in and could eventually see myself coming here, but I'm still evaluating. After today, I could see myself going to South Carolina, but I'm not ready to make my decision. I'm still open about my decision. But overall, it was a great experience." Thurman was joined on the visit by his father and a close friend who attended USC and now lives in Charlotte. Thurman also has offers from Duke, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Connecticut, Rutgers, Maryland, Temple, Delaware, Buffalo, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Virginia. He is going to Florida Friday and to Vanderbilt Saturday before returning home. Thurman plays left tackle for his high school team.

Florida DE to visit USC this weekend
By Phil Kornblut
One of the prospects planning to be at USC Saturday for the second scrimmage of the spring is DE Deon Lee (6-4 210) of Defuniak Springs, FL. His coach, Lenny Jankowski, will join Lee in Columbia. "He's very excited about visiting South Carolina," Jankowski said. "They were one of the first big schools to offer. They've done their homework. They were one of the first to show their interest." Lee also has offers from Texas Tech, Louisville, Wisconsin, Florida International, Troy, Western Michigan and Central Florida. And Florida State has told him an offer is on the way. He's also getting interest from Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and Florida. Lee went to Florida State for junior day. Lee is strong on USC according to his coach. He wouldn't rule out the possibility of a commitment this weekend though he said he's not expecting one. Lee had 85 tackles and 9.5 sacks last season. He had a school record 12.5 sacks as a freshman. This will be his fourth year as a starter.

Clemson offer doesn't sway Adams from favorite
By Phil Kornblut
Clemson offered TE Jerrell Adams (6-5 220) of Scotts Branch last week, but he continues to favor USC. “That was the team I followed growing up, and I’m still following that team,” Adams said of the Gamecocks. However, he’s not planning an early decision and said he’ll wait until February to make up his mind. Adams was at USC’s first spring practice and said he will try to get back for the spring game. He attended a game at Clemson last season and also went to the Tigers’ junior day. He has offers from USC, Clemson, Arkansas and Illinois, and he’s also hearing from Maryland, Florida and NC State.

Cooper on hand for USC scrimmage
By Phil Kornblut
Darlington RB Dominique Cooper (6-1 200) was on hand for USC's scrimmage Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium. Cooper was joined by former teammate and USC signee Victor Hampton. "I actually liked it," Cooper said. "They were bringing it. It was a battle between the offense and the defense. If they go that hard against each other like that, when they go against other people, they've got to be ready." Cooper is holding offers from USC and SC State at this point. He's also been hearing from Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Duke, Illinois, Alabama and Marshall. He also attended junior day at USC and hasn't visited anywhere else. USC is out front for Cooper but he's not close on a commitment.

USC firmly in front for Lee
By Phil Kornblut
DE Deon Lee (6-4 210) of Defuniak Springs, FL made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday for the scrimmage at Williams-Brice Stadium, and he's close to making a commitment to the Gamecocks. "I'm thinking hard about it," Lee said. "I want to see how the spring goes. They are my favorite, number one, no doubt, they are way out in front." Lee and his coach arrived in Columbia Friday night and spent Saturday morning checking out USC and the program. They left after scrimmage was over. "I really like it up there," Lee said. I can see myself playing for them. I like the way they play. The intensity they play with. And I liked the facilities, the classrooms, the whole campus." Lee said he talked with recruiter Jay Graham and defensive line coach Brad Lawing, and he met with Steve Spurrier. "I fit what they are looking for," he said. Lee also has offers from Texas Tech, Louisville, Wisconsin, Florida International, Troy, Western Michigan and Central Florida. He's also been hearing from Florida State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan and Florida. He has no other visits planned right now but said he might visit Florida State at some point.

By Phil Kornblut

Taylor said his offer list has not changed...USC, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Johns, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Providence, Maryland and Indiana. He plans to visit USC this summer but no date has been set. He's not sure about his other visits. USC still out front for Lee
By Phil Kornblut
USC has been the favorite of DE Deon Lee (6-4 210) of Defuniak Springs, FL ever since he visited USC for a spring practice last month. "It's still the same," he said. "They are number one." Lee has not visited anywhere else since the USC trip and doesn't have anything else planned. He will take the ACT Saturday so he won't be attending any spring games this weekend. Lee said he recently picked up offers from Michigan and South Florida. He also has offers from USC, Texas Tech, Louisville, Wisconsin, Florida International, Troy, Western Michigan and Central Florida. He said Louisville is second on his list behind the Gamecocks. Lee said he'll probably wait until mid-season or the end of his season to make a decision.
