Lee continues to favor Gamecocks
By Eric Guimaraes
DE Deon Lee (6-4 210) of Defuniak Springs, FL says USC continues to lead for his services. Lee was in Columbia for the spring game and says he really enjoyed the visit. "I liked the town and the coaches," said Lee. "I like the way they play. Heck, I like everything about them." Lee just returned from a visit to Kentucky. "It was pretty nice," he said. "They have a nice campus. I got to see a lot of things." Lee says that was his one and only visit for the summer. He said, "I'm going to wait and take an official visit to South Carolina," adding, "That's the one I know I'm going to take." He says he has thought about committing but wants to wait until he has taken an official. "I could commit on my visit there (USC)," said Lee adding, "most definitely." He says USC is his favorite and there are not any other schools on his list.

McKinney enjoyed his day at USC
By Phil Kornblut
OL Quincy McKinney (6-4 295) of Columbus, GA made an unofficial visit to USC Friday for his first close up look at the Gamecock program. "I got a little tour because I hadn't been there before," McKinney said. "South Carolina's facilities are beautiful, state of the art, best I've seen. The academic center is beautiful. If I got there I'll be spending a lot of my time there." McKinney has not narrowed his list which also includes offers from Nebraska, Michigan State, Southern Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Duke, Georgia Tech, Memphis and Vanderbilt. "Me and my mom are discussing it," he said. "We'll narrow it down in a couple of weeks." Right now McKinney does not have have favorites though he's been looking the hardest at USC, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Michigan State and Southern Miss. He plans to take at least a couple of official visits before deciding.

Floyd enjoys USC showcase camp
By Eric Guimaraes
DE Desmond Floyd (6-5 230) of Union County was at USC's showcase camp last Friday and says he enjoyed the visit. "I liked the coaching staff there a lot," said Floyd. "They have really nice facilities." After his visit to Columbia, Floyd headed north to camp at Wake Forest. "Their head coach, Coach (Jim) Grobe is a really cool guy," he said. "They have a really cool campus." Floyd's offers are from USC, Kentucky, Maryland, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, NC State, West Virginia, Illinois, Duke, Central Florida, and Arkansas. He says he is hearing a lot from Georgia Tech recently and they appear to be interested in offering him. Floyd had planned to commit before the season but has since changed his mind. "I want to know I am comfortable at that school," said Floyd. "So, I' not sure when I will commit." He does not have a favorite

also USC hosts two targets Thursday
By Phil Kornblut
Two players USC is seeking for its defense unit were on campus Thursday for unofficial visits. DL Brandon Clemons (6-4 255) of Milford, PA and DB Ronnie Martinn (5-10 175) of Spartanburg spent several hours on campus checking out the facilities and meeting with the coaches. "I thought it was great between the area, the campus and the coaching staff," said Clemons who was actually vacationing in the state and drove in for the visit. "It's a good environment. I don't have any top teams right now so it's pretty open to where they (USC) stand." Clemons has no other visits planned right now. He has also been to Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Penn State, West Virginia, Connecticut, Temple, Boston College, Maryland, Duke and Rutgers. Martin wrapped up his visit late this afternoon after being given a tour of the campus and the football facilities by his recruiter Shawn Elliott. "It's a nice campus, a great place to be," said Martin who has his decision down to USC and LSU. "I like the way they treat you here. They're straight forward. And when I went to LSU, I liked what I saw there. I'm going to take time out with my parents and go over all the options. I'll talk to my coach (Freddie Brown) and let him know what I think. I'll have a decision before I get back to school. They are both equal, no favorite." Martin also has offers from Nebraska, Illinois, Colorado and Maryland.

Dixon brothers continue to favor Gamecocks
By Eric Guimaraes
DL Gerald Dixon, Jr. (6-2 270) of Northwestern says USC is his top school. He says that Maryland has offered, to go along with his USC offer, and that he plans to visit College Park. "I want to go see what it's like there," said Dixon. "I'll try to visit during the season." He says he was at USC for the showcase camp but did not participate. "I was down there hanging out," he said. "I got to meet some of the players." He says his brother, DE Gerald Dixon (6-4 260) of South Pointe, also favors USC and that they will be "a package deal". Dixon says he is hearing from Alabama, LSU, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Oregon. He plans to commit sometime during the season and says he will take an official visit to USC.

Carson says seven standout with him
By Phil Kornblut
Lake City RB Shon Carson (5-9 195) finally got down to playing football Thursday night. Carson missed his team's first few practices while finishing up a baseball tournament in Florida. And there's more baseball ahead. Next Wednesday Carson will play in an all-American game at Wrigley Field in Chicago. As for his recruiting, Carson said seven schools are left on his list....USC, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, East Carolina and North Carolina. Carson is looking at each school for football and baseball. He did not take any visits during the summer and has none planned for now. He'll make a decision after this season. "I'm looking at a good education and where I feel like home," Carson said. Carson said he last talked with USC recruiter Brad Lawing a couple of weeks ago, but it's been a while since he last talked with Clemson recruiter Danny Pearman. Carson said he's also hearing a lot from USC baseball recruiter Chad Holbrook. He does not have a favorite among his final seven.

Cooper ready to take some visits
By Eric Guimaraes
RB Dominique Cooper (6-1 195) of Darlington has offers from USC, SC State, East Carolina, and North Carolina Central. He is hearing from Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, and a few other schools. He says he has not heard from Clemson in a while. "Last I heard is they wanted to offer me at linebacker and haven't heard anything since," said Cooper. He says he would rather play running back but would not rule out playing defense. Cooper has not taken any visits this summer but says he will when football begins. He wants to visit East Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. "I didn't says USC because that's a given," he said. "They were the first to offer me and are recruiting me the hardest. I am definitely going to visit them." He says he will take an official to USC and is unsure which other officials he could take. Cooper does not have any favorites and has not set a timetable for a commitment.
