2009 All SEC Team

fdsfdfsThis is our first foray into attempting to select the SECRivals All SEC Team.  If you feel that we left someone out or bumped someone too high, let us know by giving us a shout in the comments section.

Of course, as with any great idea, we received our inspiration from the great Brian Harbach of Scout.com

Offensive Player of the Year
Ryan Mallet QB Arkansas Razorbacks

Mallet completed 57.2% of his passes for 3422 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions

Defensive Player of the Year
Rennie Curran LB Georgia Bulldogs
Averaged 10.2 tackles per game and completed the regular season with 122 total tackles

Honorable Mention
Antonio Coleman DE Auburn Tigers (9 sacks, 15.5 tackles for loss)

SEC Freshman of the Year
Warren Norman RB Vanderbilt Commodores
Broke Herschel Walker's Freshman all purpose yards record by recording 783 rushing yards (5.4 ypc average and three touchdowns), 19 receptions for 108 yards (one touchdown), 1050 yards on kick-off returns (three touchdowns).  Norman led the SEC in all purpose yardage with 1941 yards (161.8 yds per game).

Honorable Mention
Alshon Jeffery WR South Carolina Gamecocks (735 receiving yards, 17.1 yards per catch, six touchdowns)

SEC Coach of the Year
Nick Saban Alabama Crimson Tide

The 180-Degree Award (for the player that turned his game around 180-degrees)
Jonathan Crompton QB Tennessee Volunteers
After the third game of the season, Crompton led the nation in total interceptions with eight.  At the end of the regular season, Crompton had passed for 2565 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while leading the Vols to a 7-5 record and potential Peach Bowl berth.

An Alabama twitter follower wants to know how in the living bee-jeezus you could leave Rolando McClain off of the list? and oh yeah, ya might want to look at that Mark Barron character ... lol ... and which left field bleacher did you pull the RT from? He even play for UA?
