Lines and Notes for SEC Football Nov 14th

parlayAlthough the race for the SEC Eastern and Western divisions are complete, there are still key games remaining on nearly every SEC team's schedule.  These key match-ups can ultimately determine the difference between a team playing in the Outback Bowl versus the Music City Bowl.

SEC Games on Tap for This Week:

Tennessee Volunteers (5-4; 3-3) at Ole Miss Rebels (6-3; 2-3)
Ole Miss is a 3.5 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  The Vols are the hottest team in the SEC that is still not bowl eligible.  Many UT fans have been counting this game as a win the entire season.  A win here will make UT bowl eligible.  Ole Miss has not lived up to the preseason hype.  Although the Rebels already have six wins, two of the wins are against FCS teams (FBS teams can only count one FCS victory towards bowl consideration; thanks to AA on TonyBasilio.com for the info).

Kentucky Wildcats (5-4; 1-4) at Vanderbilt Commodores (2-8; 0-6)
Kentucky is a 3 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  These two teams have a combined 1-10 SEC record?  Wow.  Kentucky has struggled at times and needed a virtual miracle to beat Louisville earlier in the season.  Vanderbilt has a solid defense, but the Commodore offense can not leave the defense on the field the entire game.  Rumor has it that Mike Hartline might be available for this game, but do you put Morgan Newton back on the bench?

Florida Gators (9-0; 7-0) at South Carolina Gamecocks (6-4; 3-4)
Florida is a 15.5 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  Only three more games stand between the Gators and a perfect regular season ... the first in school history.  In two of the games, Florida faces two of the best coaches in NCAA history.  South Carolina is in the midst of their annual late-season slide.  Will the Gamecocks be able to move the ball effectively against the talented Gator defense?  If Tim Tebow has a solid game, expect the National Media to begin pushing him for the Heisman.

La Tech at LSU Tigers (7-2; 4-2)
LSU is a 24.5 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  La Tech is not very good, but does LSU suffer a post-Bama let down?  It could happen.  We expect La Tech to load up against the run and to double Terrance Toliver ... this will give Brandon LaFell many opportunities in this game.

Alabama Crimson Tide (9-0; 6-0) at Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-5; 2-3)
Alabama is a 13 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  Alabama has to recover quickly from the war against LSU and travel to Starkville.  Before last year's 32-7 Bama win, the Crimson Tide had not scored an offensive touchdown vs MSU the previous three games.

Auburn Tigers (7-3; 3-3) at Georgia Bulldogs (5-4; 3-3)
Georgia is a 4.5 point favorite in this game

Early Thoughts:  This could be the game that actually gets UGA Defensive Coordinator Willie Martinez fired.  Georgia is so close to becoming bowl eligible, will the anticipation cause the Bulldogs to get too jacked up for this game?  One thing is for sure, Georgia can not turn the ball over and win this game.

Troy Trojans at Arkansas Razorbacks (5-4; 2-4)
Arkansas is a 14.5 point favorite in this game

In the preseason, Troy's Head Coach predicted a win over Arkansas ... anyone else wondering if some sticky-icky was used prior to that statement?  Florida did have some offensive match-up problems against Troy's defensive line earlier in the season.
