For the 2009 football season, the SEC will have bowl tie-ins with (up to) ten bowls, which will make for a lot of football betting. There are twelve SEC teams in the entire league. SECRivals takes a look at each bowl contract and predicts which SEC team will appear in the game. Like many things, take the predictions with a grain of salt ... as with anything before the season ends, these are only projections and will likely change between now and the first week of December.
SEC Bowl #1 BCS #1 vs BCS #2 Pasadena, CA Rose Bowl January 7th, 2010 8:00pm ABC
Barring a disastrous completion to the season, the winner of the SEC Championship Game will play for the BCS Title. We predicted Florida to repeat for the National Title, and they still may, but gauging by their play during the regular season, we find it difficult to put them in the title game.
SECRivals Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide vs Texas Longhorns
SEC Bowl #2 BCS vs BCS New Orleans, LA Louisiana Superdome January 1st, 2010 8:30pm FOX
In a non-National Title season, the SEC's number one team will play in the Sugar Bowl. Of course, this season, the Sugar Bowl representative will likely be the second best team in the SEC. We are looking for TCU to continue to jump the lower-tier teams.
SECRivals Prediction: Florida Gators vs TCU Horned Frogs
SEC Bowl #3 SEC vs Big Ten Orlando, FL Florida Citrus Bowl January 1st, 2010 1:00pm ABC
The Capital One Bowl must select the non-BCS SEC team with the next best record or a team within one win of the best record.
SECRivals Prediction: LSU Tigers vs Penn State
SEC Bowl #4 SEC vs Big XII Arlington, TX Cowboys Stadium January 2nd, 2010 2:00pm FOX
The Cotton Bowl has their pick of the teams remaining in the Western Division. LSU could slip from the Capital One to the Cotton Bowl depending on the outcome of the game between LSU and Ole Miss this weekend. Basically, Ole Miss and LSU are playing for who goes to Texas versus who goes to Florida for a bowl game. The SEC's opponent will come from the Big XII.
SECRivals Prediction: Ole Miss Rebels versus Nebraska
SEC Bowl #5 SEC vs Big Ten Tampa, FL Raymond James Stadium January 1st, 2010 11:00am ESPN
The Outback Bowl selects from the remaining teams in the Eastern Division to play against the Big Ten. If a team from the Western Division is ranked higher, the Outback can select from the Western Division.
SECRivals Prediction: Auburn Tigers vs Wisconsin
SEC Bowl #6 SEC vs ACC Atlanta, GA Georgia Dome December 31st, 2009 7:30pm ESPN
The Chik-Fil-A Bowl selects from all remaining SEC teams. The opponent comes from the ACC. This creates a favorable regional match-up.
SECRivals Prediction: Georgia Bulldogs vs Virginia Tech Hokies
SEC Bowl #7 SEC vs ACC Nashville, TN LP Field December 27th, 2009 8:15pm ESPN
The Music City Bowl works with the SEC office to secure an SEC vs the ACC if the match-up can be hammered out.
SECRivals Prediction: Tennessee Volunteers vs North Carolina
SEC Bowl #8 SEC vs Big XII Shreveport, LA Independence Stadium December 28th, 2009 5:00pm ESPN2
The Indepence Bowl works with the SEC office to secure an SEC vs the Big XII match-up (favorable). If an SEC team is not bowl eligible, the Independence Bowl selects from the Sun Belt Conference.
SECRivals Prediction: Kentucky Wildcats vs Missouri
SEC Bowl #9 SEC vs Big East Birmingham, AL Legion Field January 2nd, 2010 2:00pm ESPN
The PapaJohns.com Bowl receives the ninth selection from the SEC. In years in which nine SEC teams are not eligible, the bowl committee selects from the Sun Belt Conference. The opponent comes from the Big East.
SECRivals Prediction: South Carolina Gamecocks vs South Florida
The above are the automatic bowl bids that the SEC has contractually agreed with. Additionally, the Liberty Bowl selects an SEC team to play against a Conference USA team:

Liberty Bowl Information: SEC vs Conference USA Memphis, TN Liberty Bowl January 2nd, 2010 5:30pm ESPN
SECRivals Prediction: Arkansas Razorbacks vs East Carolina
Go ahead, flame away. I am sure you feel as if we screwed your team somewhere. Like we prefaced this article, the article's intent is more of an informational purpose to show the bowl tie-ins with the SEC more than taking our predictions seriously, but we are sure there is a homer out there that will take issue with our selections.
We will include official ticket information (non-affiliate links) in a future article.
