college football picksWelcome to the last week of the regular season ... have we really almost completed twelve weeks of college football games already?  Taking a look around the SEC (and beyond) this week, the schedule is filled with in-state and border rivalry games.

THIS is what SEC football is truly all about.

Also, to give you a taste of what next season will bring, we also analyze several key match-ups.  The Picks Panel that we ran this season has been a blast, but in actuality, a test.  Next season we will launch a larger panel bringing you the most knowledgable college sports analysts on the internet ... call it our 324 day warning to our competitors ... 'cause we all know y'all will be clamoring to copy us once again.

SEC Football Games

Alabama Crimson Tide at Auburn Tigers
Alabama is favored by 10.5 points

Alabama must make a strong statement in this game for several key reasons:  to show the pundits the Crimson Tide is under ranked as the BCS' number two team and for recruiting.  This game is extremely important in the recruiting war that occurs between these two schools.

Bama's defense will be the difference in this game.  The Crimson Tide gave up 20 points to he Kentucky Wildcats ... in the other six SEC games that Alabama has played, their opponents averaged 7.3 points per game.

Auburn is 4-1 versus Alabama in the previous five match-ups.

Clemson Tigers at South Carolina Gamecocks
Clemson is favored by 3 points

South Carolina is 1-4 versus Clemson in the last five games

The Gamecocks desperately need a win in this spot not only for the bump in recruiting they may receive, but the bump in bowl positioning as well.

Tennessee Volunteers at Kentucky Wildcats
Tennessee is favored by 3 points

The UT defense has shown signs the past few weeks that it may be running out of gas.  The Vols hold a 24-game winning streak over the Wildcats ... how bad do you think UK wants to win this game?  If the Wildcats win this game, UK finishes higher in the SEC East in like .... ever.  Common-Wealth Stadium is going to be cold and Kentucky has a legitimate shot at knocking the Vols off.

Ole Miss Rebels at Mississippi State Bulldogs
Ole Miss is favored by 7 points

MSU is locked out of post-season play ... in the last four meetings, the record is 2-2.  How deflated will Ole Miss be following the blockbuster win versus LSU?  Expect Ole Miss to come out flat in this one for at least a half.  Luckily for the Rebels, MSU has no depth and is capable of wilting down the stretch ... MSU beat the Kentucky Wildcats on the road and wants this game for the bragging rights.

Florida State Seminoles at Florida Gators
Florida is favored by 23 points

This is likely Bobby Bowden's final trip to The Swamp ... this is Tim Tebow's last home game.  Florida not only wants to win this game to keep their regular season winning streak alive ... the Gators want to win this one to keep Urban Meyer's perfect record vs FSU alive.

Georgia Bulldogs at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
GT is favored by 7

As we discussed in the pre-season ... UGA coach Mark Richt may be one of the most likely coaches willing to bail on his team at the conclusion of this season ... go ahead and start the Richt to Notre Dame rumors?  LOL, just kidding, but Bulldog fans can be very rough on coaching staffs.  If Richt is unwilling to fire DC Willie Martinez in a month or so, look for Richt to either bail or be ousted.  It is that simple and yes, we saw this coming.

These two teams simply hate each other.  That is why it is called a rivalry game.  GT will try to run over, through, and around the UGA defense.  On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs will try to do whatever they can ... this could get ugly.

Arkansas Razorbacks at LSU Tigers
LSU is favored by 4 points

Ryan Mallet versus John Chavis' defense ... Anyone else think Les Miles has practiced calling time out this week?

College Football Games that will be included in this week's Picks Panel

Miami Hurricanes at South Florida
This game is being called a toss-up

Duke exposed Miami last week, can South Florida finish the job?

Oklahoma State Cowboys at Oklahoma Sooners
This game is being called a toss-up
Which Sooners squad shows up?

Wake Forest at Duke Blue Devils
Wake Forest is favored by 3
If Duke wins they are bowl eligible

Missouri at Kansas
Missouri is favored by 4.5
Could this be Mangino's final game as a Jayhawk?

Notre Dame at Stanford
Stanford is favored by 8.5
Is that tapping noise the final nail being driven into Charlie Weiss' coffin?

Pittsburgh at West Virginia
Pitt is favored by 2

Damn D-man you know we're good when the very ones who once called us a 'tumble weed' follow our every move. Isn't that right Will? Thought I had forgot that remark didn't you?
