The SEC has strong representation on the NFL Pro Bowl team. The Pro Bowl, to be played the week before the Super Bowl on January 31st, will be the 'kick-off feature' running up to the Super Bowl.
Eleven former SEC players were selected for the Pro Bowl: SEC East - Six Selections Champ Bailey (Denver), Georgia Percy Harvin (Minnesota), Florida [kick returner] Peyton Manning (Indianapolis), Tennessee Jason Witten (Dallas), Tennessee Sidney Rice (Minnesota), South Carolina Jonathan Stinchcomb (New Orleans), Georgia
SEC West - Six Selections Le'Ron McClain (Baltimore), Alabama Alan Faneca (NY Jets), LSU Jay Ratliff (Dallas), Auburn DeMeco Ryans (Houston), Alabama
Jason Peters (Philadelphia), Arkansas Patrick Willis (San Francisco), Ole Miss
If you are a high school football player being recruited to play college football, take a long look at this list. Why in the world would you want to play anywhere other than the SEC?

I was surprised to find that eight guys from Big East schools made the two teams:
Ray Rice, Shaun O'Hara: Rutgers
Elvis Dummervil, David Akers: Louisville
Darrelle Revis, Larry Fitzgerald: Pittsburgh
Dwight Freeney: Syracuse (by way of Bloomfield, CT. Big shout out to the Warhawks!)
Trent Cole: Cincinnati
However, what's really interesting, is that if you just look at the guys who actually played in the Big East, that number goes up:
Take out Akers and Cole, who didn't actually play Big East football (their schools were in difference conference's at that point), but add these guys:
Ed Reed, Bryant McKinnie, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Frank Gore and Ray Lewis who played at Miami when they were in the Big East, and interestingly, there are 13 guys with Big East ties playing in this year's Pro Bowl.
Anyway, I'm not trying to make any real point, other than that I found this interesting.
Also of note, there are two guys from both Central Florida (Brandon Marshall and Asante Samuel) and Kent State (Antonio Gates and Josh Cribbs).
Who knew?
