South Carolina and Arkansas struggled to a tie at the half.  The Razorbacks pulled away with a sixteen point third quarter to win 33-16.

If you watched this game, you witnessed a little bit of everything:  a failed fake punt, an end-around touchdown, and a high shotgun snap that resulted in a safety.

Arkansas' Ryan MalletThis game was tied at ten points each at the half.  The Gamecocks had no answer for a red hot Ryan MalletMallet, 23-of-27 for 329 yards and zero touchdowns, is SECRivals' Offensive Player of the Week.

Just before the half and trailing 10-7, Arkansas' DJ Williams took a short pass 69-yards to put the Razorbacks in business deep in Gamecock territory.  The Razorbacks kicked a score tying field goal as the gun sounded.

When looking at the stat lines from this game, every category is almost identical until you arrive at the final score.  Arkansas used a 16 point third quarter to power to the win.

South Carolina shot itself in the foot on their opening possession.  The Gamecocks burned two time outs while being faced with a fourth-and-one from the Razorbacks six yard line ... Garcia converted the first down.  Three plays later, South Carolina was faced with a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line, but suffered a delay of game penalty.  The penalty forced the Gamecocks to settle for a field goal.  While these miscues did not cost South Carolina the game, it foreshadowed what was to come.

Garcia completed an 80-yard touchdown pass to Alshon Jeffery on the first play of the second half.  The extra point was missed, but South Carolina had the lead at 16-10.  That was the night for the Gamecocks.

Arkansas answered on Mallet's one-yard keeper to put the Razorbacks ahead (for good) at 17-16.  Garcia was then intercepted in the endzone and Arkansas drove the ball for another score with Broderick Green scoring from two yards out.

On the next possession, Garcia had a shotgun snap sail over his head and the ball ended up rolling into the endzone where it was recovered for a safety, putting the Razorbacks ahead 26-16.  Arkansas added a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to ice the game at 33-16.

Quarterback Duel:
Stephen Garcia 20-34 for 327 yards, one touchdown, one interception
Ryan Mallet 23-27 for 329 yards

Rushing Futility:
South Carolina 25 for 53-yards
Arkansas 36 for 76-yards

Arkansas is within one game of being bowl eligible, but are owners of a 2-4 SEC mark.  South Carolina (6-4) is in the middle of yet another late season losing streak after beginning the season 5-1.
